What makes on news story more important than another?
I feel as though it depends on how much society cares about the story.
What are the characteristics of a news story that might make it important for more than one day ?
A story would have to be event changing and have an effect on a large amount of people

Untrue Individuals
My biggest pet peeve is someone who is untrue to themselves and others. Something I cannot stand is a liar. When someone is untrue it means they have trouble telling the truth to people around them or people who are also in the situation. They lie to themselves and all the participants of the situation. With just one lie they can change the outcome and outlook on the said problem. A lie could be the difference between someone getting out the trouble or getting deeper into it. Lying doesn’t do anything but create a bigger problem because once you lie you have to keep up with your lies to keep them looking like the truth. Once you make a chain of lies you have to remember every lie and create a new lie to keep your lie believable. Honestly we all lie, that doesn’t change the fact that lying is a sin and it’s an everyday thing. Lying about something small like not doing the dishes or not taking out the trash is a little white lie. However, lying about where you’re going and who you’re with is another. Lies can destroy the foundation of anything, lying can change everything. I asked a classmate about how she felt about untrue people and her response was," I hate them because lies hurt."

One Family Moves In, Another Forced Out
This article on the New Haven Independent website took place of course in New Haven. On October 18th Yale architect students inaugurated a house that they had competed to design. The address was 456 Orchard Street, next door, 452 was sprayed with bullets just the night before. Mayor DeStephano said he would look into the possible housing code violations. In the end, the landlord of 452 Orchard Street was not reaching her responsibilities as a section 8 house owner and all who were living on her property were giving 60 days to find a new home. She stopped receiving section 8's money and now will have to reapply to home section 8 participants.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month
My most recent article was about Breast Cancer Awareness Month. I chose to write on this topic because it is supported by a sport I play. The National Football League's owners and participants all wear pink for the entire month of October, they wear pink cleats, pink gloves, pink towels, pink jersey labels and many other accessories on their uniforms. Breast Cancer has changed the lives of many and effected the way some of the players familys. All apparel worn at games by players and coaches, along with special game balls and pink coins will be auctioned off at NFL Auction. The NFL is determined to be a big part of the help to find the cure to breast cancer.

#1
So my first post didn't show up. So this will be my first actual public one. This blog is decicated to my journalism class but I feel like I wont always be writing in it just for the class. I've been in school for about a month now and it all seems so simple now. Wake up, come to school, learn, laugh, bus home, football practice. It's a daily routine that doesn't seem to change reguardless of how the day begins. I've been able to pay much more attention in class and produce good work. I have less friends than last year, but I made it like this for myself this year. The less friends the less distractions; which equals better grades.
